Crime + Investigation 609, 8.30pm

This new series follows victim

– or surviving family members – of life-altering crimes as they come face-to-face with their offender in the hopes of finding answers or seeking some sense of closure. In tonight’s series premiere, host Van Jones meets with Donald Lacy, an activist and comedian whose 16-year-old daughter, Loeshe, was murdered two decades ago in a gangrelated shooting. For years, Donald has had nagging questions about what really happened the night of the incident, and he wants to meet with the man who took his daughter’s life to find out the answers. Prepare to be incredibly moved by this powerful series that explores the human potential for redemption.

DR DEATH Crime + Investigation 609, 7.30pm

Harold Shipman began working as a physician in 1970. Between then and his arrest in 1998, he killed at least 215 patients – some estimate more than 260 – by injecting them with lethal doses of painkillers. It was the local undertaker who noticed Shipman’s patients seemed to be dying at an unusually high rate, and exhibited similar poses in death: most were fully clothed, and usually sitting up or reclining on a settee. This compelling one-hour special looks at the life of Britain’s most prolific serial killer and presents footage of his intense police interrogations, letters and unheard testimony to deliver a vivid insight into his motives and his infuriating arrogance and grandiosity. Prepare to come face-to-face with pure evil.

But are the women ready to confront the horror of what they did? Expect Matt Smith (pictured) to deliver a standout performance as the infamous cult leader in this fascinating outing that also stars Hannah Murray (Game of Thrones), Marianne Rendon

(Imposters), Sosie Bacon (13 Reasons Why) and Chase Crawford (Gossip Girl).
