A DARLING Heights businesswoman is out about $5200 worth of stock after thieves stole two packages from her doorstep.
Rebecca Santillan said the two boxes contained a supply of wire-lined headwraps that she planned to sell at her popup jewellery and accessories store in Grand Central, Get Fob’d.
“I just want my stuff back,” she said.
The theft occurred between 1-7.20pm, on Thursday.
Ms Santillan said Australia Post dropped the packages on her secluded doorstep shortly after lunch.
She is suspicious an opportunistic thief saw the delivery driver and picked up the two boxes soon after.
“They must have seen the Australia Post guy because you cannot see my door from the road,” Ms Santillan said.
Both boxes were heavy and would have required some effort to lift.
Sadly, Ms Santillan is concerned the thieves would have dumped the packages once they realised they had pinched 213 technicoloured headwraps.
“What is (the thief) going to do with hundreds of wire headwraps?” she said.
“The worst part is that selling these headwraps is my full-time job.
“It feeds my kids and puts them through school.”
An ill-timed move means there was no chance the theft would be covered by her home and contents insurance.
“We had only moved into this house was few weeks ago.
“Sorting my insurance was literally this week’s job.
“I am so mad at myself because I am usually the person that is onto everyone else about insurance.
“Here I am eating my words.”
Ms Santillan reported the theft to police.
While they investigate, anyone with information about the theft, or who may have observed people acting suspicious near Wuth St in Darling Heights, on Thursday, is asked to phone Policelink on 133 444.
