FOR THOSE FAMILIES WHO CAN STILL TRAVEL TO THE ACT

Questacon’s Anita Beck said visitors of all ages should be on the lookout for these little surprises in or near the museum, guaranteed to make every visit to Canberra even more memorable.

EASTER EGGS

“We like to put what we call Easter eggs into our exhibitions. We’ll hide something a bit interesting when they get installed and we don’t tell anyone about them,” Ms Beck said. “So, for example, we had a colour exhibition a couple years ago. It had a little diorama of someone’s bedroom and we hid a crocodile under the bed. “They’re all over the building, so if people keep their eyes open, they might find something a little out of place.”

ROCK MUSIC

“We have a rock xylophone, which I love. When you hit it, it just sounds beautiful. It’s just different rocks that have been cut to different notes and it’s the most beautiful sound. I love that. It’s outside the museum so people can still interact with it.”

FREE PLAY

“We’re right on Lake Burley Griffin and that is a really cool cycleway. On the other side of the lake there’s Boundless Playground, a special accessible playground, which is actually excellent for everybody. It’s wonderful for kids in wheelchairs, but it’s just super cool. There’s some really good thinking that’s gone into that, it’s fun.” For more opening information and bookings, as well as access to many free and fun digital resources, visit questacon.edu.au
