New COVID-19 testing centre now open

DARLING Downs Health has opened a new COVID-19 drive-in testing clinic on the outskirts of Toowoomba.

The new pop-up drive-in testing centre is located at the BP Toowoomba Westbound Truck Stop, just west of Toowoomba on the Warrego Highway at Charlton.

The centre opened on Saturday

and is now open seven days a week, from 8.30am to 4pm.

“The centre will target travellers and heavy vehicle operators, with the site able to take trucks, cars, and vehicles with caravans, without travellers needing to exit their vehicles,” a Darling Downs Health spokespers­on said.

“Given current demand for COVID-19 testing the patience and understand­ing of all attending, the clinic will be greatly appreciate­d.”

The spokespers­on said more informatio­n about testing was available via the Darling Downs Health COVID-19 hotline (1800 490 468), which is staffed from 8am to 5pm,

Monday to Friday.

Darling Downs Health are operate two other testing clinics in the region, including at the Baillie Henderson Hospital in Toowoomba, the Goondiwind­i Showground­s.

Both clinics are drive in clinics.

There is also a GP-led testing clinic at the James Neil

Medical centre on the corner of James and Neil St and at the Carbal Medical Services clinic at 18-24 Charnley Street, Kearneys Spring.

Bookings are essential at both clinics.
