Days left to apply for our Garden For Good

THERE are just four days left for our region’s green thumbs to apply for The Chronicle Garden For Good program.
Gardeners of all kinds are invited to apply to participate in an exciting new concept through Garden For Good, a digital garden showcase.
It is a replacement of The Chronicle Garden Competition which has been run for more than 70 years.
However, it was not possible to hold the competition due to it being unsafe for tens of thousands of people to flock to the region’s gardens.
Applications are open until Sunday, August 16.
From these applications, 10 gardens will be selected and featured in a COVID-19 safe virtual showcase on the new Garden for Good website.
Through the application process, gardeners are also able to nominate a charity, selecting one close to their hearts from the thousands of charities on the everydayhero platform.
This concept allows the public to then practically participate by donating funds to the featured gardener’s charity of choice.
This component of Garden
for Good brings the community together to raise much-needed funds for charitable organisations in the Toowoomba region in these uncertain times.
Editor-in-Chief Steve Etwell said we had received some incredible applications already.
“There have been some amazing gardens submitted with hundreds of hours of work poured into them, but we would love to see more,” he said.
“We took on board feedback that some of the gardeners may need a little more time to submit their applications and extended the application period to August 16.”
Gardeners can apply until Sunday by visiting www.thechronicle.com.au/gardenforgood.
If potential applicants are unable to apply themselves or with the assistance of family and friends, they are welcome to phone our office on 07 4690 9300.
Garden for Good is sponsored by Heritage Bank and the University of Southern Queensland.
