Lodge supports hospice
MEMBERS of the Darling Downs District Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows have set a target to raise at least $4500 to ‘Adopt A Room’ at the Toowoomba Hospice.
The District Grand Master of the DDMUIOOF Queensland chooses, if they desire, which charity in the area they wish to support and Bro Christopher Blanch of the Darling Downs District which incorporates Toowoomba, Dalby and Crows Nest lodges chose the Toowoomba Hospice.
“I chose to support the Toowoomba Hospice as because they are a local charity with all their money raised locally staying locally to support our local terminally ill at the Hospice in a home like environment,” Bro Chris Blanch said.
The Oddfellows Lodge has been operating for more than 200 years in England and 178 years in Australia. Today it teaches members how to conduct meetings and public speaking. It also fosters fellowship between members throughout Australia, New Zealand and England. The District Grand Masters chooses a charity to support and the members raise funds for that charity.
District Grand Master Bro Blanch said most of the money raised would be via a Go Fund Me at https://gf.me/ u/yskq97 and maybe a sausage sizzle or two.
“We are also doing the recycling of bottles/cans and have drop off points at Highfields and Goombungee. All you need to do is call Lynne on 0419 308 489. Please help us to support the hospice so they can continue to provide free palliative care based on mutual respect, trust and individual needs.”
