Hatch’s quartet on Clifford Park trail

- SEAN TEUMA sean.teuma@news.com.au

RACING: Lindsay Hatch has been in scintillating form at Clifford Park in October, and he’s looking to keep the momentum rolling tomorrow evening.

With four winners from nine starters at the track for the month, Hatch has enjoyed a golden run since claiming the Weetwood Handicap.

He saddles up another four runners tomorrow, headed by last-start winner Wild Moon in the Create With Cottee Benchmark 68 Handicap (1640m).

The five-year-old joined Hatch’s stable from Wendy Kelly in Victoria, picking up his first win in Queensland with a dominant victory here last weekend.

“He drops a kilo in weight but goes up a little bit in class,” Hatch said.

“He loves the wet and deadset thrives in it. He’s been great since I’ve had him and his form has reflected how he’s been in the stable.”

Talented three-year-old Spiritomo has won two of five starts with a further three minor placings, and Hatch believes she is ready for the step up in trip in the Sander Partners QTIS Benchmark 62 Handicap (1210m).

“I don’t think the trip will be a problem and the conditions will suit her too,” he said.

“The weight (58kg) is a bit of a concern. She’s a small filly. We thought about claiming but she’s not really an apprentice’s horse.

“She tends to lay in, it’s a trait she has, but Justin (Stanley) should give her every chance.”

Myola Milly looked destined for victory at Warwick a fortnight ago before wayward manners in the straight cost her.

Hatch hopes a return to Clifford Park will work in her favour in the Queensland Electrical Solutions Class 1 Handicap (1300m).

“She wanted to stargaze and run out, but she’s definitely improved and I expected her to be hard to beat,” he said.

“I hope she does the right thing on her home track.”

Mook has his first run for the stable in the Get Out Stakes Maiden Handicap (1050m), and Hatch is hoping for a nice Queensland debut for the former northern-NSW galloper.

“He’s owned by a good client of mine. He’s a difficult horse so he asked me to take him,” he said.

“Paul Randall has done a lot of work on him and thinks the horse goes good.

“He probably wants a bit further, but he’ll improve on this run.”

The seven-race card gets underway at 4.30pm, with the last jumping at 8.10pm.
