Congratulations to kindy

WELL done, Highfields C & K Kindergarten. How great to read such a happy news item in Wednesday’s The Chronicle about your recent achievement – a statewide C & K award for Innovation in Curriculum for 2020.

Highfields C & K Kindy has been a leader in early childhood education for many years.

Every staff member shows dedication to the enrichment of children’s lives. Not only has this been recognised by educational peers but also by those other “educators”, the parents of these children. Families have always been enveloped and included in this very caring atmosphere.

When the challenge of the coronavirus pandemic presented itself, this team rose to the occasion and offered a program based both on the needs of children whose parents were essential workers and also for the needs of the children at home.

The creche and kindergarten (C & K) was established in 1907 and has for such a long time worked to provide excellence in early childhood in Queensland.

In the QUT Outstanding Alumni Awards for 2020, Jane Bourne CEO of C & K was awarded the Alumnus of the Year award for the Faculty of Education Outstanding Alumni Award.

This award is given to a graduate of

QUT who displays traits of vision, passion, innovative thinking and drive in their area of expertise. Indeed, Jane travelled to Toowoomba to participate in a children’s event (THRIVE) which was put on by the Empire Theatre during our Carnival of Flowers.

Congratulations Highfields Kindy and Jane Bourne for your outstanding contribution to education.

DOROTHY TOWNSEND, Toowoomba
