Celebrating 70 years

-

WORKING together has helped make the loving partnership of 70 years of marriage successful for Ivan and Jean Eiser (nee Ingram).

Mr. and Mrs. Eiser met when they both worked at radio station 4GR in Toowoomba.

They used to ride their pushbikes home from work together.

It was dancing though that bought them together as a couple.

Ivan invited Jean to attend a Wyreema dance with four or five other couples he knew and love grew from there.

Their marriage took place on October 23, 1950, at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Taroom, Mrs Eiser’s home town.

For the first six years of marriage they lived in Alderley Street, Toowoomba.

They were soon on the move with Mr. Eiser’s job, as a company representative for Shell, took them to Cunnamulla.

Mr Eiser had to travel the region for a couple of weeks every month and Mrs Eiser learnt to cope with the dust storms.

A move to Chinchilla saw Mrs Eiser back close to home territory, much to her delight.

From there they lived in Innisfail, followed by Warwick and then Caloundra.

They raised three children – Carolyn, Roslyn and Trevor – and Mrs Eiser kept the home fires burning while Mr. Eiser was on the road.

Mr Eiser enjoyed sport and during their time in Warwick his golf game became a source of pride for the family when he took out second place in the Shell World Wide Golf Tournament. He received a congratulatory cablegram from the Shell head office in The Hague, Netherlands, and a trophy of a handmade rug from Venezuela.

He was also involved with the Manchester Unity Independent Order of Odd Fellows, serving terms as grand master and chairman of the board.

Retiring from the workforce, Mr and Mrs Eiser made the decision to move back to Toowoomba where they purchased a home.

They both enjoyed playing outdoor bowls at Drayton Bowls Club and indoor bowls at Senior Citizens.

Their life has been rich with many friends from school days, dancing and various groups they have been involved with.

They have six grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

Their family will come together for a quiet lunch to celebrate their platinum anniversary.

Happy Anniversary to an amazing couple.

The love and happiness you share is an inspiration to those around you.

Congratulations.
