Clifford Park boosted by big numbers

-

RACING: Clifford Park’s seven-race card tonight has attracted a surge of 95 acceptors.

The Western Truck Group Benchmark 70 Handicap (1300m) is one that has gathered a strong field of 12 acceptors.

Barney’s Law (Mark Currie) heads the weights, while trackdistance specialist Inching Closer (Matt Boland) has drawn barrier eight.

Inching Closer has raced at the Clifford Park 1300m four times for three wins and a second.

The Ray White Pittsworth QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap (1050m) shapes as one of the more interesting races of the night.

Alert and Ready (Kevin Kemp) has been given the 58.5kg topweight courtesy of three city placings last preparation, although she is also accepted for the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.

Bean Dancing (Donald Baker) and Lady Fey (Tony and Maddy Sears) will make their debuts, as will Merimee for the Chris Waller yard, after two trials in Sydney.

BEST BET – Blue Harmony (Race 5 No 10) – Lightly raced filly that gets in with 54kg after the Alex Patis claim. Second to Simply Fly on debut and impressive here at her only run last prep.

NEXT BEST – Barney’s Law (Race 3 No 7) – Looks the class runner of the field in a competitive BM70. Has carried 59kg to victory twice this prep so the big weight isn’t a concern.
