Always a reason to visit Straddie

-

NORTH Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah) is the ideal short escape and only an hour from the Brisbane CBD.

Accessible by SeaLink vehicle ferry, an easy 45-minute journey across the bay, the island has avoided the hustle and bustle associated with holiday destinations that are within easy reach of a capital city.

The SeaLink vehicle and passenger ferry terminals are in Cleveland and make the journey to the island part of the adventure.

You can take your car – (you do not need a 4WD as all the roads are sealed) or jump onboard the passenger ferry to access the island.

Straddie has a wide range of accommodation styles for a weekend escape, from a campsite, hotel suite, self-contained apartment, classic beach shacks, or wide range of holiday houses.

There are so many highlights for while you are on the island - from beautiful beaches, enchanting lakes, amazing wildlife, and talented local artists and small businesses!

Make sure to visit the North Gorge Walk too – you can thank us later (jump online and search all the social media posts about Straddie before you go)

Each year from May to September, large numbers of Humpback whales pass the rocky headlands of Point Lookout on North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah).

Why not take the opportunity to observe these amazing creatures right on Brisbane’s doorstep?

Whale watching is an exciting and educational experience for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Point Lookout has many land-based vantage points from which you can view the whales as they travel past Stradbroke Island on their annual migration from Antarctica to the warmer waters of the Great Barrier Reef.
