- DIANA JENKINS Register at kidsnews.com.au and spelling-bee.com.au

Teachers and schools have one week to register students in the Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee. More than 14,000 students have been entered by teachers nationally – is your child sitting the Bee?

Run by Kids News and supported by Scott Morrison and the Department of Education, Skills and Employment, the spelling bee is a fun, free online competition for students in Years 3-8.

The school round is now open. More than 2000 students have already tested their skills by tackling 30 random spelling words each round.

WHAT PARENTS NEED TO KNOW

You must consent to your child participating. But teachers need to signup students. Ask your child’s class teacher to register your child and they will provide you with the consent form.

Your school may have one teacher who coordinates all eligible Bee entrants. Contact your school and ask who is running the school round.

Parents, teachers and kids, visit spelling-bee.com.au – click Try the Bee to see what it’s all about. There are great prizes to be won.
