McGregor’s threat in spat over $656k claim

-

CONOR McGregor has declared his fight with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 is off amid an ugly Twitter spat between the two fighters.

The pair were set to meet for the third time after Poirier won the recent match, prompting calls for a trilogy fight.

There is early drama though after Poirier called out McGregor on Twitter, accusing him of not

sticking to his word and donating $500,000 ($A656k) to his charity.

McGregor had promised to make the donation in the lead-up to their bout at UFC 257 in January.

Poirier though claimed McGregor and his team “stopped responding after the fight in January” and are yet to make the donation.

“A donation, not a debt,” McGregor wrote on Twitter.

“We’ve been awaiting the plans for the money that never came. I do with all my donations. Know where it’s going dot for dot. Otherwise it goes walking...”

Poirier though quickly replied, declaring it was: “100% never a debt. You offered, we accepted, and like I said your Team never responded to our emails regarding the process of where funds would be put to work! July 10th you will taste defeat yet again.”

Then in an expletive-laden rant the Irishman claimed the fight between the pair is off.

“You’re ripped you inbred hillbilly,” he wrote.

“Why do you wink with your ears? You f---ing brain dead hillbilly. 500k with no plan in place. Ye hang tight. Fool. You must be new to money.

“The fight is off btw. I’m going to fight someone else on the 10th. Good luck on your old contract kid.”
