ANOTHER wave of house and car break-ins occurred in Roma after unknown offenders targeted multiple homes in a four-day crime blitz, which saw a Mercedes Benz stolen from a man aged in his 70s.
Between 6pm on Sunday, April 11, and 12.30am on Monday, April 12, Roma Police said unknown offenders entered a house on Lomandra Avenue and gained the keys to a Mercedes Benz station wagon, which belonged to a 76-yearold Roma man.
Officers found the car about 2am on April 12 parked on Mayne Street.
Police are still investigating the matter.
Then, at about 11.30pm on April 11, a 30-year-old female residing on Allen Street woke up to noises from the garage.
Police said when the woman went to investigate, she saw an unknown person attempting to start her car.
Investigations revealed the offender removed the fly screen to her door but entered through a rear window and stole the keys and wallet.
Officers recovered the keys but not the wallet. Investigations are ongoing. Then, at midnight on Wednesday, April 14, a 63-year-old man woke to unknown offenders at the rear of his home on Cottell Street.
They attempted to open the rear door, however fled on foot after the man approached them. Officers are investigating the matter.
Roma Police Sergeant Chris Keenan reminded residents to lock their homes and cars.
“People must be more security conscious – lock your windows, doors, security doors, cars and do not keep items lying around,” he said.
