Not yolking: family cracks 12 eggs to find 24 yolks
THEY say lightning doesn’t strike the same place twice, but in the case of Penelope Dowling and her family, lightning struck 12 times in one frying pan over the weekend when they cracked open a carton of eggs to find all 12 of them had double yolks.
Ms Dowling’s sister bought what they thought was an unassuming pack of Fresh As eggs from the Hodgson Vale Corner Store to cook for breakfast at the weekend.
They cracked the first egg, and to their elation, found it had a double yolk – a one in 1000 chance.
Then, the second egg they cracked produced the same result – another double yolk.
“My daughter thought this is crazy, I’m going to film this,” Ms Dowling said.
“They continued to crack the entire carton and every egg was a double yolker.”
The incredible video has been circulated on social media, starting on Tik Tok, and shows every single egg being cracked into a fry pan, double yolks and all.
Ms Dowling’s friend, Toowoomba PT and business owner Danielle Brandlin Gardiner shared the video on social media, with commenters describing the moment as “mind-blowing”.
The odds of finding one egg with double yolks in a carton are about one in 1000, making the odds of finding 12 double yolks absolutely unheard of.
The Cracker Jack owner said she didn’t quite believe it, and immediately questioned her brother-in-law Graham on how he did it.
“I’ve gone into Google to see if there’s some trick you can do to split the yolk down the middle,” she said.
“But no, they were double yolks every time.”
