Fire rips through home

MULTIPLE fire crews battled on Sunday night to contain a blaze that tore through a Granite Belt home.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said five crews were called to a house fire on Ellwood Road, Applethorpe, at 5.15pm on Sunday.

The house had sustained significant damage by the time they arrived.

The fire was extinguished by 6pm and QFES officers monitored hot spots until 7.50pm.

The QFES spokeswoman said an investigation into the cause of the fire would be conducted.
