Police call for vigilance after rock throwing

MURGON and Cherbourg Police would like members of the public to remain vigilant as there has been a recent increase in calls for service regarding rocks being thrown at buildings, cars and people.

A vehicle was travelling along Broadway Street, Cherbourg, at 3.45pm on April 27 when rocks were allegedly thrown at it.

A 13-year-old Cherbourg boy is scheduled to appear in the Murgon Children’s Court charged with endangerin­g the safe use of a vehicle by throwing an object.

In another incident at 8.30am on May 10, two boys are reported to have thrown rocks at a Wondai recreation area, causing damage to the amenities. Investigat­ions are continuing.

Police warned the consequenc­es of such actions may include property damage and injury.

They asked people who witnessed this activity to take note of what the offenders were wearing, and if they were saying anything while throwing rocks. People should also take a good descriptio­n of their location, document any damage then report it to police.
