Data reveals safest areas across Downs

A NEW analysis of data has revealed that parts of the Darling Downs are the safest in Queensland when it comes to property crime.

Insurance company Budget Direct released its safe suburbs map for 2021 this month, which crunched the numbers when it comes to property crimes occurring per 1000 homes in suburbs across Australia.

Nearly 50 per cent of suburbs in Darling Downs and Maranoa had a lower than average risk of property crime.

The 4480 postcode, which covers Quilpie and Eromanga, was the third safest in Queensland, followed closely by the 4454 postcode covering Injune and Beilba.

But the 4350 postcode covering Toowoomba was not so safe when it came to these crimes.

It is considered in the higher risk, with 156 crimes per 1000 properties.

This makes it ranked 318th out of 372 Queensland postcodes.
