A collectables paradise

‘Rare and Beautiful’ returns

- PETER HARDWICK

AFTER a hiatus last year due to Covid-19, the Missionary Sisters of St Peter Claver’s annual Rare and Beautiful Variety sale is back this Saturday.

The Missionary Sisters raise funds for missions and charities around the world, and the Rare and Beautiful Variety sale is one of the mission’s main fundraiser events.

“This is the first one since Covid, and we’re really looking forward to it,” Sr Eileen March said.

“We have a wide variety of collectables and beautiful items such as crystal, Royal Doulton, Wedgwood, craft, figurines, linen, antiques and books.”

One item which will undoubtedly attract the attention of buyers is a rare German Christmas ornament which is quite valuable.

The Rare and Beautiful Variety Sale will run from 8am to 1pm on Saturday at the mission’s headquarters of 71 Margaret St.

“We are having a sausage sizzle from 8am so people can have some breakfast before looking through all the items for sale,” Sr Eileen said.

A cake stall will also be available and the venue has the Queensland check in app for Covid safety.
