Man on attempted murder and arson

- PETER HARDWICK

A DARLING Heights man charged with attempted murder and arson of a house has had his case adjourned again in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court.

The court was told Christopher Mark Grosser had been held in custody since his arrest earlier this year after the house fire to which emergency services were called just after midnight on February 13.

Grosser was not required to be in the court for the brief mention of his case on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old had initially been held in custody in hospital to where he was taken for treatment for serious burns injuries after being found by emergency services personnel near the burning home about 2am that day.

A 43-year-old woman found out the front of the Quinlan Court home was also taken to hospital with serious head and torso wounds.

She has been making a slow recovery, the Toowoomba Magistrates Court was told.

Grosser was charged during a bedside court hearing days after the fire with one count each of attempted murder and arson, as well as one count of possessing dangerous drugs and one count of possessing a schedule 1 drug in a quantity exceeding schedule 3 but less than schedule 4.

He has not as yet been required to enter pleas to the charges.

Due to the nature of the charges, the case would eventually have to be taken up to the higher court to be dealt with.

There being no application for bail at this stage, Magistrate Graham Lee remanded Grosser in custody and adjourned the case for committal mention back in the same court on September 8.

Grosser has not as yet instructed his legal representatives to apply for bail on the matter.
