Corpse case back in court

- PETER HARDWICK

A GLENVALE mother accused of dumping the body of a 28-year-old man on Toowoomba’s outskirts has had her case adjourned again in the city’s Magistrates Court.

Kelly-Ann May Sinclair, 36, has been held in custody since her arrest on charges arising from the alleged dumping of 28-year-old Blake Riley’s body in bushland at Preston to Toowoomba’s east in January and was not required to be in court when her charges were mentioned on Wednesday.

She has not as yet been required to enter any pleas to more than 70 charges which include interfering with a corpse, 63 counts of supplying dangerous drugs, trafficking in dangerous drugs and other drug related matters.

Her solicitor Amber Acreman, of Skuse Graham Lawyers, told the court she was still waiting for the police brief of evidence to be completed and disclosed.

The brief of evidence had been initially requested in March, she said.

Magistrate Damian Carroll agreed to adjourn the case for a week in the hope the police material would by then be disclosed to the defence.

Mr Carroll remanded Sinclair in custody and adjourned all charges for committal mention back in the same court next Wednesday.
