Suburban clinics up for sale

- TOM GILLESPIE

TWO longstanding suburban vet clinics owned by the same Toowoomba family will head to auction, with interest expected to come from entrylevel investors and selfmanaged super funds.

Burgess Rawson has listed the Greencross Vets clinics in Centenary Heights and Kearneys Spring for sale this week.

The Kearneys Spring location on Stenner Street has been around since 1991, while the clinic on the corner of Alderley and Ramsay Streets was established in 1998.

Agent Campbell Bowers said the two properties, which are being listed separately, each came with new five-year leases to national tenant Greencross Vets.

Mr Bowers said the vet clinics enjoyed the same bluechip status of many other commercial industries, including medical facilities and childcare centres.

“They’re owned by the same vendor, a Toowoombabased family who used to operate them,” he said.

“They’re being sold with brand new five-year leases, long-term tenure with low base rents and costs.

“They’re put in the same box as other industries, they are an essential service-style investment, like a medical clinic.”

Mr Bowers said the clinics’ strong customer base, status as essential community services and relatively small business sizes would make them ideal for the growing selfmanaged super fund market.

“We’re expecting to see some strong interest in them.”

The properties will head to auction on Wednesday, September 29 from 11am.
