WARWICK TURNS OUT IN FORCE FOR JAB

- JESSICA PAUL

HUNDREDS of Warwick residents have rolled up their sleeves to receive their first dose of the Pfizer Covid vaccine, with experts warning the clinic will be the best chance to protect the community from the ever-growing virus risk in NSW. The Pfizer super clinic opened at Warwick Showgrounds on Tuesday, offering the sought-after vaccine to all members of the community aged 16 and up.

One of the first Rose City residents to get the jab was Leeola Gill, who said she was slightly nervous about the needle but was quickly put at ease.

“It was very quick, pretty painless – I think I’d built it up in my head a bit, but it was great,” she said.

“I was so full of apprehension but it was fine. It’s good to see there’s so many people taking advantage of it when it’s so close. “

Darling Downs Health Emergency Operations Centre lead Annette Scott said organisers expected up to 1600 people a day from Tuesday to Friday, and another 800 on Saturday due to the shorter opening hours.
