Behemoth eases in Memsie defence

South Australian galloper Behemoth returns to defend his Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) title at Caulfield. Like last year, Behemoth goes into the race after winning the Spring Stakes. Behemoth has been an easing favourite as the early support comes for Tofane, who is chasing a hat-trick of Group 1 wins. The six-year-old mare claimed the Stradbroke Handicap and Tatt’s Tiara during the Brisbane winter carnival. Five of the 12-horse field comes out of the P.B. Lawrence Stakes, led by winner Sierra Sue and Red Can Man.
