A DARLING Downs woman suffered significant head injuries after she fell from a horse.

The Toowoomba RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter flew the woman to hospital following the incident, which occurred on a private property near Goondiwindi at 9am on Monday.

It’s believed the woman, who is aged in her 40s, was checking on cattle when one of the cows knocked the horse she was riding and caused her to fall.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics were treating the patient when the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue aeromedical team arrived.

The woman was stabilised before being flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital.
