OLYMPIC bronze medallist Harry Garside has been fined more than $5000 after hosting an illegal gathering at his home in Melbourne.

The 24-year-old boxer, who won Australia’s first Olympic medal in boxing since 1988 during the Tokyo games, arrived home in Victoria on Friday after a two-week stint in hotel quarantine.

On Saturday night, he hosted friends at his house in Melbourne’s outer east, a gathering that was in breach of Victoria’s lockdown rules. Police said the boxer notified officers of the gathering himself after photos were posted on social media.
