Card cheat is trumped

- The London Times

Italy has complained about a boycott of its bridge team by European rivals opposed to the inclusion of a player previously found guilty of cheating.

Last week, in the opening rounds of the European Bridge League’s qualifiers for next year’s world championships, six countries refused to play against the Italian team.

They objected to the presence of Fulvio Fantoni who was found guilty along with his partner of cheating while playing for Monaco in 2014.

The players were accused of communicating with one another with the angle or orientation of their played cards.
