DINGOES OFF TO HOT START

CRICKET: These Dingoes have plenty of bite.

The Darling Dingoes capped off a perfect opening weekend of the Brisbane Premier League, sweeping both men’s fixtures in Ipswich.

It started at the bright and early time of 7.30am where the Dingoes were able to rise best, taking down the Moreton Magic by seven wickets.

Blake Maher (3/26, pictured) and captain Steve McGiffin (3/10) were pivotal in restricting the Magic to just 117 runs.

In response, a 91-run third wicket stand between Sam Truloff (41 runs) and McGiffin (47*) helped the Dingoes to reach their target with three overs to spare.

They backed it up immediately after against the Coastal Marlins, again accounting for them to the tune of seven wickets.

While not able to contain Coastal as well as they did the Magic, Liam-Hope Shackley (2/31) and Michael Topp (2/19) both played their part in giving their batsmen something to chase, with the Marlins finishing at 7/168.

The Dingoes looked to be in a bit of trouble at 3/36, before one of the best partnerships we’re likely to see in the BPL.

Truloff (72*) and Maher (57*) smashed 14 boundaries on their way to an unbeaten 133-run stand to cap off a perfect weekend.

The U19s Dingoes ensured a clean sweep of the weekend, winning their games against the Marlins and Magic.

Two wickets apiece to Danny Young and Lachlan Crump guided the Dingoes to a five wicket defeat of the Magic.

It was backed up by an extraordinary knock from Connar Robson, who blasted 72 from just 29 deliveries to steer his side to a massive eightwicket win with more than eight overs remaining.
