LOOKING for activities during the Carnival of Flowers that won’t break the bank?

There is a treasure trove of floral festivitie­s heading our way that are either free or under $5 for an entry ticket.

Ikebana display

Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery will showcase the Japanese art of flower arrangemen­t by the Toowoomba Ikebana Group from September 10-26.

It opens Monday-Saturday from 10.30am-3.30pm and 1-4pm on Sundays at the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery.

Entry is free.

Succulent Fest

Chasing some hardy plants to decorate your home with?

You won’t want to miss Succulent Fest on Sunday, September 19.

This one-day event is held at the Bunkers Hill State School at Westbrook from 8am-2pm. Entry is $2.

Flower and Music Festival A popular location during carnival time, St Luke’s Anglican Church will showcase floral displays from Friday, September 17 to Wednesday, September 22.

The displays are open from 9am-4pm each day and you can catch musical concerts in the grounds at 12.30pm.

There will also be market stalls and delicious treats available.

Entry is a gold coin.

Clivia Society show

A beautiful display of clivias will be on show at the TAFE horticultu­ral pavilion from September 17-20.

It is open from 9am-5pm and the entry fee is $3.

Bonsai show Toowoomba Bonsai Group will showcase bonsai of all shapes and sizes at its annual show on September 18 and 19.

Check out these eclectic displays from 9am-4pm on those days for just $3 at the Newtown Park Rose Cottage.

Children under the age of 16 can enter for free.

Orchid showcase

Orchid lovers are in for a treat at the Toowoomba Orchid Society Show.

Be inspired by the plants or pick up your own at the event from September 17-20.

It runs from 8.30am-4pm each day except on Sunday, September 19 when it will run from 8.30am-2pm.

You can find the display at the St Pauls Church hall on the corner of James and Phillip Streets. Entry is $4.

Native plant show

The TAFE horticultu­ral pavilion will play host to a display of native plants from September 17-20.

Gain advice on native plants or pick up some new greenery from 9am-5pm each day. Entry is free. Bromeliads on show Locally-grown bromeliads, cactuses and succulents will be on show at the Sacred Heart Primary School hall in Wilsonton from September 18-20.

The Toowoomba Bromeliad and Succulent Society show runs 8am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday and 8am-2pm on Monday.

Check out daily demonstrat­ions at 10.30am and 1.30pm.

Entry for adults is $3 while children can enter for free. Orchid Spring Show

The Native Orchid Society of Toowoomba hosts its spring show from September 17-20.

Native and exotic orchids will be displayed from 9am-5pm except on Monday when the event runs 9am-3pm.

Entry to the St John’s Lutheran Church hall event is $3 for adults.
