Warning to all parents
IT TAKES only seven minutes for a child trapped inside a vehicle to succumb to unbearable temperatures and sustain serious injuries or die.
And still, fresh data has revealed Toowoomba residents are still making the potentially deadly error.
In the lead-up to the mercury rising across the Sunshine State, RACQ has renewed calls to residents of the Toowoomba region to be vigilant with not leaving children locked inside hot cars and exercise caution around children and vehicles.
An RACQ spokeswoman confirmed in the year from July 1, 2020, the organisation had attended 1039 call-outs for kids locked in cars in Queensland.
Of these, 23 were in the Toowoomba region.
“Toowoomba City had the most call-outs with five, closely followed by Kearneys Spring which had four,” she said.
The spokeswoman said if you located a child locked in a car, call 13 1905 immediately.
