Revamp for 1930s home

-

A CHARACTER home in an up-market part of Toowoomba will be revitalised by the owner after the structure was damaged by fire.

Plans were lodged with the council last week for the onestorey house on Mary Street in East Toowoomba, directly opposite East Toowoomba State School.

According to the report by Property Projects Australia, the fire damaged the roof and interior of the 1930s home.

The report said applicant and owner Deanne Wilson planned to make a number of restorations and alterations, which would add another 60 sqm of floor space in the form of a rear extension and proposed terrace.

“The proposed works involve additions and alterations to the existing building, which has been substantially fire damaged to ensure the building is suitable for use as a dwelling house,” it said.

The council has yet to respond to the application.
