TMR eyes bike path on freight roadway

- MICHAEL NOLAN

THE Department of Transport and Main Roads is seeking feedback on a proposed bike route along Taylor Street, from Boundary Street to Tor Street.

It has called for members of the public to submit their suggestions on how this can be achieved.

The planning project will establish a long-term vision to provide suitable bike facilities that encourage more people to ride bikes more often.

The improvements must provide a safe, active transport option in line with the Queensland Cycling Strategy.

So far six riders have offered their suggestions.

Most are expressing serious safety concerns.

“This area often has dense traffic and large vehicles, so proper bike infrastructure would probably need to include some physical barriers to help riders feel safe,” Amy J said.
