Christmas event set to return

- MEG GANNON

AFTER the hallmark Toowoomba event, Christmas Wonderland, was cancelled and “reimagined” in 2020, organisers are pleased to announce that it will return to the Garden City this year in its original form.

Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland will return to the Queens Park Botanical Gardens on December 4.

Project chairman and Lions club member Marshall Cox said while the event was able to go ahead in a more Covid-safe manner last year, the resounding feeling was that it just didn’t feel the same as previous years.

“We know how disappointing it was for many families across the region to not have the magic of Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland in the gardens, so we can’t wait to welcome them back to Queens Park this year,” he said.

“Our team has been working on new displays for 2021, and I’m certain that we will present a Wonderland like never before.

“There will be many new displays and free giveaways, especially for our younger visitors.

“Behind the scenes, the project team has also been hard at work planning for a magnificent event, so make sure you keep an eye out for updates as December approaches.”

Lions Club of Toowoomba West president Merv Symons added the project team had been checking all the Covidsafe boxes.

“Following the cancellation of last year’s event, our club project team has been working tirelessly to plan a Covid-safe event for 2021 and to bring back this iconic event for all in the Darling Downs and surrounds,” he said.

“Our club members are passionate about Christmas Wonderland, and we look forward to putting on the event in December and providing the joy of Christmas to all, especially the many children, who visit Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland,” Mr Symons said.
