Fast food frenzy

- SAM TURNER

DALBY could be home to yet another fast food franchise if a company’s development application is approved for a prime location along the town’s main drag.

The community has until September 10 to submit their thoughts on a proposed drivethrough restaurant on the corner of Arthur and Drayton streets.

Designed by the Town Planning Alliance, the development application depicts a one storey building accompanied by a black concrete drivethrough lane, along with footpaths across a 2024sq m lot.

It will provide up to 20 car parks and four bicycle spots.

The current structure on the site would be removed along with fencing and landscaping to make way for the new business.

Documents revealed several cars would be able to pass through the drive-through lane while operating, which led to speculation that a large fast food chain might be coming to the Western Downs.

Dalby already has a McDonald’s, Red Rooster, and a Hungry Jack’s, with another takeaway option sending the community buzzing on social media.

“Hopefully Guzman Y Gomez,” one person wrote on Facebook.

“Better be Super Rooster,” another wrote.

“Dan Murphy’s with drive through (pizza),” a keen visionary commented.

The restaurant is seeking approval for a material change of use for the development along Drayton St.

Community submissions and information requests can

be made to info@wdrc.qld.gov.au.
