THE UNSUNG HEROES OF TRL
RUGBY LEAGUE: They’re the unsung players that have driven the TRL women’s competition.
As the league prepares for its inaugural finals series, we asked all four clubs to nominate their most underrated players in their squads.
The full list of 12 players appears online at thechronicle.com.au/sport
GRACE FENDER (WARWICK)
One of Warwick’s most consistent players throughout the season, Fender (pictured) has had a big impact.
A real team player, Fender’s defence has been a highlight for the Southern Downs side.
“Grace plays hooker and although she’s not a very big girl, she makes all the hard tackles,” Gilbert said.
“She works hard and is always doing what’s best for the team. She has the heart of a lion.”
JAYDE WARE (WARWICK)
Brings experience in both league and union, Ware’s class has been on show throughout the season.
Her versatility and willingness to adapt has been a big part of Warwick’s success.
“She flies a bit under the radar but not with the coaching staff,” Gilbert said.
“Probably our most consistent player, Jayde will fill in any role and is happy to play any position.”
