Fresh new look for restaurant

- RHYLEA MILLAR

CHANGES are coming for a popular cafe, but the husband and wife behind the restaurant say the quality food and service will remain the same.

Partners in life and business, Paul Hallam and Samantha Carmichael, are renovating their cafe, which recently had its name changed to Savour This Eatery.

Formerly known as Abbie Lane, the pair felt it was the perfect time to rebrand.

“When we first took the cafe over, it was more about coffee and cake,” Mr Hallam said.

“While we still offer that, we really wanted the name to be more about our food, especially with Sam being a chef and continuously evolving our menu.”

The couple is also performing ongoing renovations onsite, and they have painted the dining room a teal blue and olive green and plan to give the outside veranda a makeover too.

And while the cafe is known for its burgers, wood-fired pizzas and newest chicken and waffle eggs benny edition, it’s also what brought the pair together.

“I took over the cafe in late 2015, and Sam was working here as a chef at the time,” Mr Hallam said.

“We spent a lot of time working together in the kitchen and it just blossomed from there … 12 months later we were married.”

The couple celebrated their sixth marriage anniversary this year.

Savour This Eatery is at 10522 New England Highway, Highfields. It is open Tuesdays to Fridays and Sundays from 8am to 2pm and on Saturdays from 7am to 2pm.
