New butcher arrives in town

Delicious range of products at Highfields shop

AGED butter, barley-fed rib fillets, parmesan crumbed chicken tenderloins and satay chicken parcels are just some of the delicious products on offer at a new butcher.

Christian Nicholls has been working in butcher shops since he was just 14years-old and has been qualified in his trade of choice for more than a decade.

And now the butcher has opened his own shop, Highfields Gourmet Meats, much to the satisfaction of locals.

“Highfields has needed a butcher for a long time – it’s a fast growing community and close to home for us, so we thought we’d start our own shop,” Mr Nicholls said.

“People are really thrilled to have a butcher shop in Highfields, and the response so far has been great.”

Mr Nicholls said his favourite thing about being a butcher was speaking to customers and helping them find easy or creative meals using some of his unique products.

From Philly cheesesteak stuffed pastries to barley-fed rib fillet that has been coated in butter and aged for three weeks, Mr Nicholls said all items were handmade onsite.

Ready made meals are also available in the form of homemade pies, sausage rolls, lasagne, meatballs and potato bake, among others.

Currently employing a team of six, the store also stocks honey, pasta, jams, marinades and condiments.

Highfields Gourmet Meats is at Shop 11, Highfields Shopping Centre on Highfields Rd.

The store is open from 8am to 6pm weekdays and 7am to 4pm on Saturdays.
