Buy strawberries

-

I LIKE to think that I am supportive of Australian farmers.

But right now strawberry farmers are copping a beating as COVID-19 lockdowns are affecting the supply chain.

Some farmers are experiencing losses of 50 per cent or more, because there is a halt in supply to markets like New Zealand and China.

Strawberry shoppers are very much being urged to buy now, or the remaining strawberries will be destroyed.

Health wise strawberries, along with all berries, are one of the most nutritious things you can eat, and it would be detrimental to everyone if the market for these berries came to a halt.

Strawberries account for about 41 per cent of the fruit coming from the Sunshine State, so it is a huge food market that is being disrupted.

Why not opt for a strawberry milkshake, rather than a chocolate one?
