A WOMAN accused of stabbing her partner during a heated argument has indicated she will contest the charges.

Police will allege the 30year-old woman plunged a 12inch blade into a man’s leg before slashing her face.

The woman is facing one charge of unlawful wounding.

A KINGAROY woman charged with stabbing her partner in the leg before accidental­ly slashing her own face has indicated she will contest the allegation.

Police will allege Kaycee Jayd Byrne grabbed the knife when a fight with her 25-yearold partner escalated on Saturday morning.

She has been charged with one count of wounding.

Magistrate Christophe­r Callaghan said it was alleged the 30-year-old turned and pointed the knife at the alleged victim before stabbing him in the leg, leaving a 3-4cm wound.

The man then pushed her away and Ms Byrne fell over, accidental­ly striking herself in the face with the knife, Kingaroy Magistrate­s Court heard.

The man was taken to hospital and received eight stitches in his leg, police prosecutor Sergeant Barry Stevens said.

Lawyer Jay Rose said his client indicated she plans to plead not guilty.

She was granted bail to appear in court on September 13.
