MYSTERIOUS FIRES – OUTBREAKS AT TOOWOOMBA

-

A week ago the Holy Name Convent school and church were destroyed by fire, and yesterday morning a buggy shed and stables owned by Mr P Horan, and adjoining the site of the destroyed church, were mysteriously burnt to the ground.

The damage is estimated at about £100.

There was no insurance.

A few hours later a man engaged at the convent discovered a portion of an outhouse of the Holy Name church on fire, and extinguished the outbreak.

No idea as to the origin of the fire can be given in either of the three instances.

The police have made investigations, and local officers and a black tracker have the matter in hand but it is understood that their inquiries have given no definite result.
