Kremlin in hack attack
Germany has accused the Russian security services of mounting a “wholly unacceptable” cyberattack on members of the Bundestag weeks before the country’s general election.
A group of hackers calling themselves “Ghostwriter” are believed to have targeted several German MPs amid claims that the Kremlin has sought to swing the result in its favour.
It is unclear which parliamentarians came under attack, but in the past Ghostwriter is known to have broken into politicians’ computer systems to plant misinformation.
The German foreign ministry said it was convinced Russia had sponsored the attack.
