DARLING DINGOES KEEP PACE

-

CRICKET: The Darling Dingoes have maintained pace with the Brisbane Premier League leaders after another solid outing.

It started with their third win from as many games as they were able to down the Western Power by seven wickets.

With the Power winning the toss and batting at Ivor Marsden Park, the Dingoes bowlers took full control of the contest.

All six bowlers took wickets, with Steve McGiffin and Blake Maher both finishing with hauls of 2/26.

Brandon Faber led the charge with 47 runs as the Toowoomba side cruised to victory with more than seven overs remaining.

Unfortunately they weren’t able to complete the double, falling to an explosive Northern Kings side by 47 runs.

The Kings posted an extraordinary total of 6/229 from their 20 overs, with Saveen Nanayakkara’s figures of 2/27.

In response the Dingoes were brave and travelling along nicely at 0/82, before losing 6/40 to fall out of contention.

Faber was again the leading light with 55 runs.

It keeps the side in third position with one round to play, with one win likely enough to secure a place in the finals.

Coach Kent Reimers said they’re looking to finish the regular season on a strong note.

“If you look at the games overall, two times we’ve had to chase big scores and the others we’ve bowled teams out,” Reimers said.

“We can take a fair bit of confidence out of the fact it took something pretty special to beat us.

“We’ll go in trying to win both games this weekend and hopefully take some confidence into the semi finals.

“The Pirates and Rockets have been struggling a bit, but any team is capable on the day.

“We’ll be looking to win both games.”
