SECRET STATE

-

Which is the ultimate beach-holiday state? Queensland’s the obvious choice, but my pick is South Australia. Its 4200km-long coastline is home to such seaside gems as Tumby Bay near Port Lincoln, where painted wheat silos meet a 10km lick of virgin seafront. And the postcard prettiness of Port Elliot, the splendid isolation of Robe, and Venus Bay, just north of Coffin Bay, with its dramatic sea cliffs that seem to stretch forever.
