’TIS THE SEASON IN CABARLAH

- RHYLEA MILLAR

CHRISTMAS may be a few months away, but business is booming for a new store that is bringing the festive season a little earlier this year.

Julie Dowd has run store Tanglewood Christmas Treasures from the small town of Tenterfield for more than three decades.

But with the intention to downsize and move closer to family, Ms Dowd alongside her husband Michael Fox, have moved their home-based business to Cabarlah, which officially opened on Saturday.

With more than 5000 decorations, the couple sell a variety of handmade or sourced items including wreaths, trees and miniature villages.

And while you would think the pair’s busiest time of year is just one of 12 months, they said they were expecting it to be busy all year round, after their opening weekend saw huge numbers come through the doors and many customers travelling from out of town.

Currently trading Wednesday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm, the couple said hours may be extended closer to Christmas.

The store is at 3 Kennedy St. Phone Julie on 0439 541 175.
