TOOWOOMBA’S TOWN HALL

Toowoomba is a little better off than Brisbane as regards a Town Hall, but as Toowoomba’s hall is also the city’s theatre, Brisbane is in this respect more favoured than the Downs city.

For years past there have been complaints about the Toowoomba Town Hall theatre.

Touring, theatrical, and other companies have complained of the lack of stage accommodation and dressing rooms, and other drawbacks.

Occasionally the producers for large companies, such as the JC Williamson Ltd, “Goody Two Shoes” Pantomime Company, now in Toowoomba – have found it difficult to properly stage their shows.

The seating accommodation, in parts of the theatre, is also the subject of complaints.

Notwithstanding this, the City Council, up to the present, has taken no notice of the complaints.
