Region’s worst child sex abusers

THEIR shocking crimes rocked the South Burnett community, and tragically, year after year our community witnesses our most vulnerable members preyed upon, often by those whose job it is to protect them.

The South Burnett Times has reported on these offenders’ vile acts and their punishment by the courts in an effort to deter people who may be thinking about harming a child or being complicit in child abuse activity.

In order to protect victims of crime, NewsCorp is unable to name many of the region’s worst offenders.

Former Scout leader Peter Brocklesby sentenced to prison for child sex abuse

A former Burnett Scouts leader was sentenced to spend at least 18 months behind bars, after the serial predator pleaded guilty to historic child sex offences against a young boy.

The Kingaroy District Court heard horrific details about the abuse, and the impact the crimes still had on the victim nearly 40 years later in November, 2019.

Peter Brocklesby, 67, faced the court on June 24, to be sentenced on six charges – three counts of indecent practice between males, two counts of unnatural offences and one count of threat. He was sentenced to six years’ jail, and will be eligible for parole on December 24, 2022.

Dad puts young daughters through 10-year rape hell

A Kingaroy father was sentenced to 15 years behind bars for raping and sexually assaulting his two stepdaught­ers and biological daughter, with the eldest being subjected to this abuse for more than a decade.

On February 24, 2021, the defendant pleaded guilty to 16 charges before Kingaroy District Court – four counts of indecent treatment of a child under 12, two counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16, two counts of maintainin­g a sexual relationsh­ip with a child, six counts of rape, and two counts of sexual assault.

Judge Long said he must serve at least 80 per cent of his sentence before being eligible for parole.

Pervert preyed on boys, including disabled child

A 72-year-old South Burnett man was sentenced to seven years’ prison after pleading guilty to having a sexual relationsh­ip with a child and multiple counts of indecent treatment of a minor.

The man pleaded guilty to 13 offences in the Kingaroy District Court.

He was charged with one count of maintainin­g a sexual relationsh­ip with a child and 12 counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16.

The man is eligible for parole on October 15, 2022.
