POLICE have arrested five girls, aged 13-17, after a brief pursuit ended when they crashed a stolen car.

Toowoomba Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Brian Collins said police observed the girls in a stolen Audi in Drayton about 11am yesterday.

“Police attempted to intercept the vehicle but it sped away,” he said.

They located the vehicle a few minutes later near Spencer Street after the teens crashed into a second vehicle.

The five teens were arrested at the scene and four will be brought before the Toowoomba Childrens Court.

A 17-year-old Centenary Heights girl, a 16-year-old Toowoomba City girl and a 13year-old North Toowoomba girl are each charged with one count of unlawful use of a vehicle, while a 13-year-old Newtown girl is charged with two counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle and one count of evading police, drive without due care and driving without a licence.

The Audi was stolen from a Maloney Street home in the early hours of yesterday.
