Curry recalls heartbreak of her daughter’s death

- EMILY COSENZA

FORMER Olympian Lisa Curry has opened up about the loss of her daughter Jaimi on the first anniversary of her death.

Jaimi was just 33 when she died in hospital in September last year.

She was the first born to Curry and Ironman great Grant Kenny.

Marking the first anniversary of her death, Curry took to social media, posting a video with photos of Jaimi throughout her life to the tune of Alexandra Burke’s cover of Hallelujah.

Curry said she never thought her life would be how it was now and still remembers the “heartbreaking moment” where her family had to say goodbye.

“Grant and I feel broken. I’ve lost myself. But each day I try to continue on, one step at a time to get things done, to continue being a mother, granny, wife, friend, business owner … at times distracting myself so much I can’t think of anything,” she posted.

“But then the quiet times come and everything comes flooding back, every feeling, every memory and I feel like I’m drowning in the pain … I hope that wherever she is – above, or at arm’s length in spirit energy she can still see and feel the love. Remembering you always our beautiful girl.”

The family released a public statement after Jaimi’s death, saying she had lost her battle with a long-term illness.
