Free training for builders

-

DARLING Downs construction workers are urged to tap into a $3 million fund to pay for training and help the sector overcome a skills shortage.

The money is part of a $49m 2021-22 Training Plan released by Construction Skills Queensland.

CSQ CEO Brett Schimming said the Darling Downs sector would be under pressure over the next year with a surge in house building demand competing with strong commercial and infrastructure activity.

“We are going to need a trade army to get through this volume of work,” he said.

“CSQ is putting the call out to worked and subcontractors, to add to your skill set, get new work tickets and take advantage of this opportunity.”

It is estimated that the Darling Downs will have more than $4B worth of construction underway over next year.
