GIVING BACK

-

I HAVE had some success as a self employed Toowoomba businessman in recent years.

And I have often thought of giving back to the community which helped me succeed.

But often it is very hard to know exactly where the money is going.

When former Prime Minister Bob Hawke made his 1987 election speech about no Australian child living in poverty by 1990, he did not know that these few words would become his greatest regret.

The Labor party made a pledge to increase welfare spending, but unfortunately the majority of this money has been wasted.

Hence the conundrum for the government and anyone in a position to give back.

Some people just don’t care. If only we did care.
